Description
Glacial Acetic Acid, chemical formula CH3COOH, is an organic monobasic acid with a freezing point of 16.6°C (62°F), which turns into a colorless crystal after solidification, and its aqueous solution is weakly acidic. Organic solvent glacial Acetic Acid is an important organic acid that can be used as analytical reagents, organic synthesis, synthesis of pigments and pharmaceuticals, as well as solvents and raw materials for pesticide, pharmaceutical, and dye industries. It is one of the organic chemical raw materials and plays an important role in organic chemical industry.
The use of acetic acid in industry
1. For synthesizing dyes and inks.
2. Used to synthesize fragrances.
3. It is used in rubber and plastic industries. Used as a solvent and starting material for many important polymers in the rubber and plastics industry such as PVA, PET, etc.
4. Use as starting material for paint and adhesive components
5. Used as an additive and food preservative in cheese and sauces in the food processing industry.
The use of Textile Dyeing and Printing
Acid dyes are substantive to protein and some polyamide fibers, including silk, wool, and nylon 6.6. Acid dyes are characterized by clear and vivid colors and are used for printing fabrics such as those used for swimwear, high-end fashion dresses, and accessories.
In the printing process, acid dye molecules need to establish ionic bonds with the fibers. Therefore, the print paste typically uses weak acid solutions, such as ammonium sulfate, ammonium tartrate or acetic acid, as a fixing agent to create the negatively charged dye site. The acid is mixed in the print paste together with a thickening agent made from guar gum, locust-bean, crystal gum, etc. The fixation processes are similar to those used for reactive dyes. After steaming with saturated steam, the printed fabrics are washed to remove excess dyes and thickening paste.
